Board Statement - MOU

Memorandum of Understanding & Member Info Sessions

The Board of Equestrian South Australia is committed to the long term sustainability of Equestrian Sports in Australia.

We recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Equestrian Australia which sets the goals and behavioural guidelines that we commit to as we navigate the reform process.

We understand that some of the other State Boards have expressed concerns and their own views but we all agree that change is needed.

The consultation process is just beginning and we agree that financial modelling is required and will be a part of the process.

State assets are to be protected and this is included in the MOU.

The Office of Sport and Recreation already successfully manages similar arrangements with regard to State funding of national models.

This is also the Australian Sports Commission’s desired model.

No one has all of the answers up front, and if we waited for that before embarking on this process, we would never progress.

We are committed to the brainstorming phase, working through the challenges as they arise and engaging stakeholders as we progress. Our members should be assured that no change will be permanent without a member vote.

We understand for some change is difficult. For others, change represents opportunity. Throughout this, we would ask that members be respectful to each other, even when you have different opinions.

No one member is more important than another, and all voices count.

ESA will be holding Member Information sessions to provide members with more information on the recent signed Memorandum of Understanding between ESA and EA on Tuesday 29th and Thursday 31st October 2024 via Zoom. At these sessions your questions will be answered where possible by ESA and EA Board members who will both be in attendance. You will have received an email advising you on how to sign up to these.

Questions to be asked at these sessions should be provided by 4.00 pm on the day prior to the session please, sent to [email protected] . Additional questions can be asked during the sessions time permitting but those asked in advance will take priority.

Potentially a further Face to Face session will be held early November with the date & location to be advised.  Please advise if this is your preference.

Members are also encouraged to make comments and suggestions to Equestrian Australia direct at [email protected]

We value our members input.
